Humana has announced the appointment of Japan Mehta as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO), set to take over in the first quarter of 2025. Mehta, who is currently the chief data officer at Citi, brings extensive experience from leadership roles at major firms such as JPMorgan, Barclays, and Verizon. He will succeed Sam Deshpande, who plans to retire at the end of 2024.
Meanwhile, Intermountain Health based in Salt Lake City has appointed Ryan Smith to the role of chief digital and information officer, effective early 2025. Smith is familiar with the organization, having spent nearly two decades in various leadership roles from 1994 to 2013 and serving as CIO from 2020 to 2022. He recently worked as interim president and CEO at digital health startup Graphite Health.
