Geo-Young, a prominent pharmaceutical distributor in South Korea, has recently inaugurated its Smart Hub Center in Incheon, heralding a pioneering venture in the national pharmaceutical sector by integrating the advanced AutoStore system into its distribution processes. This facility stands out as the first of its kind within the pharmaceutical industry in South Korea and aims to significantly improve operational efficiency, safety, and precision in pharmaceutical distribution.

The Smart Hub Center utilises AutoStore’s automated storage and retrieval technology, which is specifically designed to address the unique challenges faced by the pharmaceutical sector. One of its most notable features is the high-density storage capability, which utilises a compact cube design that accommodates an impressive 40,000 bins spread across 16 layers. This innovative storage solution optimizes space utilization, allowing for a more efficient inventory system tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical products.

Moreover, the centre employs a fleet of eighty robots that operate seamlessly atop the grid, effectively retrieving and delivering items for processing. This robotic operation is complemented by the centre's advanced picking technology, which includes a multi-jointed picking robot capable of processing up to 1,200 items per hour, thereby ensuring accurate order fulfillment. The intelligent design of the system strategically places frequently accessed items near the top, facilitating quicker retrieval processes.

The implementation of the AutoStore system by Geo-Young is part of a broader strategy to meet the increasing demands of the pharmaceutical industry. By reducing reliance on manual processes, the company aims to enhance accuracy and speed up delivery times, addressing the crucial need for reliable and scalable solutions in an evolving market.

This inauguration of the Smart Hub Center not only marks a significant milestone in pharmaceutical logistics within Korea but also sets a precedent for the future of automated solutions in the distribution sector. Geo-Young’s adoption of AutoStore technology serves as a model for effective supply chain management, illustrating how automation can address complex distribution requirements.

The development further highlights AutoStore’s commitment to providing practical and scalable solutions that enable businesses to optimize their logistics operations, reflecting current trends in AI automation that are reshaping industry practices nationwide.
