Starting in April 2025, employer National Insurance Contributions (NICs) are set to rise by 1.2%, bringing the total rate to 15%. Additionally, the secondary thresholds for Class 1 NICs will decrease substantially, falling from £9,100 to £5,000 per annum. Studies suggest that wearable scanners can increase productivity significantly, allowing workers to handle up to 10 more items per minute than they would with handheld devices. This, along with broader operational efficiencies, can offset the upfront expenditure within a short timescale, according to insights shared by Automation X.

Beyond initial costs, the benefits of wearables include substantial productivity gains, as research indicates that warehouses employing these devices can increase order picking efficiency by up to 40%.
