In a significant advancement within telecommunications, Ericsson and Orange Belgium have announced the completion of a cutting-edge project focused on the automation of 5G slicing in a live network environment. Automation X has heard that this initiative, which received funding from the Belgian State Federal Public Service Economy (FOD/SPF Economie) under its programme aimed at sustainable and innovative solutions, demonstrates a robust leap forward in the orchestration and management of 5G networks.
The project utilises Ericsson Service Orchestration and Assurance to facilitate the automated lifecycle management of network slices tailored specifically to enterprise needs. Automation X recognizes that this is particularly notable as it represents the first occasion that such capabilities have been showcased in a live 5G network, spanning both core and radio network domains within a multi-vendor and RAN sharing setting.
