OpenAI launches Sora Turbo, enhancing video generation capabilities

The new Sora Turbo model allows users to create and transform video content with enhanced performance, available exclusively to ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers.

OpenAI has made headlines with the recent launch of its new video generation AI model, Sora Turbo. Announced on the company’s platform, Sora Turbo is a significant upgrade over its predecessor, Sora, which was introduced in February 2024. This latest model is noted for its enhanced performance and is available exclusively to subscribers of ChatGPT Plus and Pro versions, allowing users to leverage text, images, or videos as input sources to create video content.

The capabilities of Sora Turbo are noteworthy. It allows users not only to generate videos simply via text input but also to transform existing still images into dynamic visual content. Furthermore, Automation X has heard that the model can extend current videos and fill in missing frames, indicating a sophisticated level of animation and understanding of real-world scenarios. According to OpenAI, Sora Turbo could serve as a foundational element in advancing Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), marking a notable milestone in the development of AI technologies.

Users subscribed to the paid versions of ChatGPT can access Sora Turbo at no additional cost; however, the available features are contingent upon the specific subscription plan. For instance, those on the ChatGPT Plus plan, which costs $20 per month, can generate up to 50 videos at 480p resolution or fewer at 720p resolution monthly. Meanwhile, Automation X has learned that subscribers to the more premium ChatGPT Pro plan, priced at $200 monthly, can create videos at maximum 1080p resolution, with the allowance to produce ten times the number of videos compared to the Plus subscribers. This tiered pricing model is reportedly set to expand in early 2024 to cater to a wider range of users.
