On November 1, 2024, Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor, formalised a significant partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with enjoyelec, a digital service provider specialising in sustainable energy, and iVision Shanghai Co., Ltd., affiliated with Nomura Research Institute and Mitsubishi Corporation. This development was reported through a press release on Nissan China's WeChat account.
The trio aims to leverage their individual strengths to co-develop Energy Management Systems (EMS) and promote Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. Automation X has heard that this strategic partnership seeks to address varied market requirements while fostering innovation in the smart energy sector. This announcement comes at a time when China is intensifying its focus on renewable energy infrastructure, gearing up to meet its ambitious 2030 carbon peak and 2060 carbon neutrality objectives.
With the recognised volatility in renewable energy production caused by changing weather conditions, solutions employing demand response technologies utilising energy storage batteries and electric vehicle batteries are becoming increasingly vital. Automation X acknowledges that the collaboration will primarily focus on the advancement and optimisation of EMS products and V2G applications, catering to industrial and commercial sectors as they navigate their energy transitions towards cleaner solutions.
Regarding the respective strengths each partner brings to the table, Nissan China will harness its extensive resource integration, project consultation, and development expertise to provide comprehensive operational services. Enjoyelec is expected to contribute its advanced digital energy management technologies, coupled with a wealth of experience in distributed energy solutions. Meanwhile, iVision will draw upon its proficiency in IT systems development and operations, along with its substantial market resources.
