In a study involving 1,689 patients—710 with type 2 diabetes and 979 classified as overweight or obese—researchers observed that the cumulative incidence rates of NAION were notably higher among those treated with semaglutide. Specifically, patients with type 2 diabetes treated with semaglutide had an NAION incidence rate of 8.9%, compared to just 1.8% in the non–GLP-1 RA cohort.
