Vsim Secures $21.5 Million in Seed Funding to Revolutionise Physics Simulation
London, UK – Vsim, a pioneering startup in physics simulation technology, has successfully raised $21.5 million in a seed funding round led by EQT Ventures. The round saw participation from an array of prominent investors, including Factorial Fund, Samsung Next, Tru Arrow, Xora (a subsidiary of Temasek), IQ Capital, Koro Capital, Concept Ventures, Lakestar Scout Fund, and Carles Reina. This latest funding follows a pre-seed round in 2023, which was spearheaded by Concept Ventures.
Founded in 2022 by Michelle Lu and Kier Storey, Vsim benefits from its founders' extensive experience and expertise in physics simulation. Both Lu and Storey spent over a decade each at Nvidia, contributing to the development of open-source physics engines within the tech giant's simulation technology team.
Vsim's innovative solution leverages advanced algorithms designed to exploit multi-core hardware architectures, significantly accelerating physics simulations for a multitude of industries. These range from robotics and Visual FX to aerodynamics for aviation and automotive contexts, as well as gaming and e-commerce.
The startup aims to address two critical issues found in existing market solutions. Firstly, it dramatically reduces the time required for companies to complete training simulations, delivering results in minutes rather than days without sacrificing quality. Secondly, it offers a scalable and customisable framework, enabling these simulations to be tailored to diverse business requirements.
The co-founders' research has yielded a flexible, high-performance physics simulator that enables rapid customisation and the development of new models. This allows users to create high-quality, custom simulations suited to specific needs with minimal engineering effort.
In addition to simulation, Vsim has expanded its technological capabilities by building an end-to-end reinforcement training framework on its simulator. This development reportedly provides a performance increase of up to 100 times compared to current market offerings, positioning Vsim as a transformative player in the industry.
With the significant financial backing secured, Vsim plans to allocate new resources to expand its suite of solutions, focusing particularly on developing comprehensive software tailored for robotics applications.
Michelle Lu, Co-Founder and CEO of Vsim, expressed her excitement about the recent funding success: “We are thrilled to announce our seed funding round led by EQT Ventures, which represents a significant milestone in our development. This will provide us with further resources and support to deliver on our mission to empower companies to accelerate and optimise their AI trainings and ultimately, transform the field of robotics simulation. EQT Ventures were an obvious choice of partner for us - they share the challenger mentality that is at Vsim’s core and our passion of supporting businesses to grow with cutting-edge technology solutions.”
Sandra Malmberg, Partner at EQT Ventures, shared similar enthusiasm for the partnership: “Physics simulation is fundamental to many sectors, such as research, manufacturing, and robotics. With decades of expertise in physics simulation technology, Michelle and Kier have built a solution that offers 100x performance for a fraction of the cost, helping users achieve breakthroughs in their fields.”
With this substantial investment, Vsim is poised to continue its trajectory of innovation, reinforcing its position in the physics simulation market and supporting companies across various sectors in achieving new technological advancements.
