Accenture Reports $64.9 Billion in Annual Revenue, Driven by AI and Creative Solutions

New York, October 2023 — Global professional services giant Accenture has reported a significant financial performance for its fiscal year ending August 31, with a total revenue of $64.9 billion. This marks a 1% increase compared to the previous fiscal year. Central to this growth is Accenture’s tech-powered creative group, Accenture Song, which contributed $19 billion to the total, representing a 7% increase from the previous year.

Accenture, a company renowned for its wide-ranging consulting and professional services, has been making a significant strategic push into the realm of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI). This technology alone accounted for $3 billion of the parent company’s $81.2 billion in new bookings during the fiscal year. Generative AI, a focal point of Accenture’s investments and innovations, has been integral to the company’s recent achievements.

Accenture Song, formerly known as Accenture Interactive, previously reported $18 billion in revenues for the last fiscal year, marking an 18% increase. It remains a vital part of Accenture's strategic approach, which includes a focus on cloud services, generating $32 billion in revenues.

The company delineates its income across several categories. Consulting services brought in $33.20 billion, while managed services contributed $31.70 billion. These figures illustrate Accenture’s vast and diverse revenue streams.

In June last year, Accenture announced a $3 billion investment into AI over a period of three years, aimed at helping clients better leverage this transformative technology. This substantial investment is directed towards acquisitions, research, talent development, and the creation of new tools. As part of this initiative, Accenture plans to double its AI staff to 80,000 through acquisitions, new hires, and internal training programs.

Recently, Accenture Song appointed Arun Kumar as the global head of data and AI. Kumar, who will report to Baiju Shah, the global chief strategy officer, is responsible for developing solutions in the data and AI arena. Before joining Accenture Song, Kumar was an independent consultant, having spent over six years as the chief data and marketing technology officer at Interpublic Group (IPG).

Julie Sweet, Accenture’s chair and CEO, expressed optimism about the company’s leadership in the AI sector. In a statement, she noted, “We continue to accelerate our leadership in Gen AI, which we believe is the most transformative technology of the next decade, delivering $3 billion in new bookings for the year.”

Agencies operating under the Accenture Song umbrella include Fjord, Karmarama, The Monkeys, Rothco, and SinnerSchrader. The company's client roster features prominent names such as Adobe, Bath & Body Works, Diageo, Edward Jones, Honda, NRMA Insurance, Peugeot, and Tourism Australia.

The company’s strategic investments and continued focus on AI innovations underscore its vision to remain at the forefront of technological advancements in the upcoming decade, solidifying its standing as a leader in the professional services industry. As Accenture continues to evolve, it maintains a steady commitment to enhancing its service offerings, driving growth, and creating value for its extensive client base.
