AI and Smart Technology on the Brink of Transforming Our Kitchens

Innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) and smart technology are poised to revolutionise the modern kitchen, according to air fryer expert and cookbook author Clare Andrews. As technology becomes increasingly intertwined with daily life, the integration of AI in the domestic sphere, particularly kitchens, appears inevitable.

Clare Andrews, renowned for her expertise in air frying and author of several cookbooks, envisions a future where smart kitchens become the norm. “Kitchens are definitely becoming more connected,” she remarked. “It blows my mind when I think about what the future could look like.”

The integration of smart technology is already evident, with appliances such as ovens, fridge freezers, and microwaves featuring advanced technology hitting the market. Andrews anticipates that this trend will continue to grow, creating more sophisticated and interconnected kitchen environments.

“I think soon we will be able to control all our home devices via a smartphone app,” she hypothesised. “Imagine an air fryer you could control with an app, simply pop the food in, head off out and voila, the hard work is done for you!” This vision reflects a near-future scenario where remote management of kitchen appliances could become a part of everyday life.

Beyond convenience, Andrews emphasized the potential for AI to enhance the eco-friendliness of kitchen practices. She foresees a range of technologically advanced appliances designed to be energy-efficient and made from eco-friendly materials. “We should hope to see more kitchen appliances that focus on reducing energy consumption, helping us to recycle and minimising waste,” she stated.

Addressing food waste, Andrews noted its common occurrence and potential for reduction through AI. She suggested that smart freezers and food sealers could be employed to better manage and preserve food. Additionally, AI-powered apps could assist users by scanning ingredients and proposing recipes that utilise soon-to-expire items efficiently.

“Our use of AI could help reduce food waste by recommending recipes to use up soon-to-expire items,” Andrews proposed. The concept includes an app that reads the ingredients in a fridge and suggests an air fryer recipe, complete with automatic cooking times and temperatures. Such innovations could simplify meal preparation while promoting sustainable practices.

While Andrews is optimistic about the evolution of air fryers and other kitchen gadgets, she does not envision AI replacing human creativity in recipe creation and cookbook writing any time soon.

Clare Andrews’ latest book, "The Ultimate Air Fryer Cookbook: One Basket Meals," is set for release on 7th November and is available for pre-order on Amazon.
