AI-Driven Recruitment Process Gains Traction Amidst Rising Demand for Skilled Workers
A recent report by Bullhorn, a global leader in staffing and recruitment software, reveals that a significant majority of candidates are now open to an AI-driven recruitment process. The Global Recruitment Insights and Data (GRID) 2024 Talent Trends Report indicates that over 60% of candidates would feel comfortable with artificial intelligence handling the entire recruitment process, from job matching to onboarding and even the interview stages.
The findings come at a time when the global economy is facing challenges, and the demand for skilled workers, particularly in the healthcare sector, is on the rise. Staffing firms are increasingly under pressure to meet candidate expectations while maintaining the flexibility and scalability of a contingent workforce. According to the GRID Report, 80% of candidates expect to be placed in a job within 20 days, while 65% desire weekly communication from recruiters.
The report highlights key pain points among candidates dissatisfied with the recruitment process. Notably, 56% felt that recruiters did not understand their job preferences, and 44% criticised the slow response times from recruiters. Speed and job fit were identified as crucial factors, with over half of the candidates choosing their current staffing agency based on positive past experiences. This underscores the value of efficient and personalised recruitment processes in retaining candidate loyalty.
Artificial intelligence is emerging as a pivotal tool in addressing these challenges. The GRID findings reveal that a majority of candidates are supportive of AI in recruiting, provided it enhances speed and maintains personalised communication. Specifically, 81% of candidates favour AI if it accelerates the job search process, and 79% support it if personalisation remains intact.
Jason Heilman, SVP of Product Automation & AI at Bullhorn, elaborated on the advantages of AI in recruitment. "AI presents an opportunity to win for candidates, staffing firms, and clients alike," Heilman noted. "Candidates rely on AI to speed up the job search, enhance communication, and ensure their value is accurately represented. Simultaneously, staffing firms benefit from hiring better talent faster for their clients, who also seek the best people for their teams. AI drives the future of hiring, enabling a faster, more accurate, and improved overall experience."
The annual GRID Talent Trends Report gathered insights from over 2,400 respondents who had worked with a staffing firm within the last five years. Participants represented various industries across regions including North America, the UK and Ireland, Benelux, DACH, and APAC. The online survey was conducted in June 2024.
