Intuit Amplifies AI Capabilities with Innovative Agentic AI Workflows on GenOS Platform
Silicon Valley, CA - Intuit, the financial software behemoth behind renowned products like QuickBooks, TurboTax, Credit Karma, and Mailchimp, has revealed significant updates to its Generative AI Operating System (GenOS) platform. In a strategic move to augment its AI and data capabilities, the company is introducing agentic AI workflows designed to automate complex business tasks, enhancing user experience and productivity.
The announcement was made at VB Transform 2024, a premier event for digital transformation. Intuit’s Chief Data Officer, Ashok Srivastava, offered detailed insights into the enhancements during an exclusive interview. The tech enhancements include the GenOS framework’s expansion to bolster security, usability, and functionality, which are expected to support these new agentic AI workflows.
Agentic AI, a significant evolution in Intuit’s AI journey, aims to streamline intricate tasks for businesses, making them more efficient. One primary focus is cash flow management, a vital aspect for businesses to ensure timely bill payments. Srivastava explained that the agentic AI would automate accounts receivable and payable processes by analysing and processing a variety of customer information, including emails, documents, and images.
“We want to have human expertise involved with it,” Srivastava noted, emphasising the necessity of maintaining human oversight in these automated processes.
In addition to cash flow management, Intuit’s enhanced GenOS platform plans to offer users dynamic financial insights. The platform's advanced conversational system will assist users in understanding their financial positions, tax implications, and compliance through dynamically generated insights.
“We’re creating dynamically produced insights and answers to customer questions using an advanced conversational system that sits upon GenOS,” Srivastava said. “It’s allowing me to get insights into what my financial situation is, what my tax situation is, compliance information, and really helping me understand the financial domain.”
As AI becomes more embedded in business operations, concerns surrounding security, transparency, and environmental impact have intensified. Intuit is addressing these concerns head-on with the GenSRF (Security, Risk, and Fraud) module embedded within the GenOS framework. This module is instrumental in ensuring responsible AI development, with built-in guardrails for safety, privacy, transparency, and security, integrated directly into user experience.
“It (GenSRF) has built-in guardrails to help responsible development of generative AI applications. It’s extensible and configurable, and it allows us to embed safety, privacy, transparency, security controls directly in the experience,” Srivastava detailed.
The new agentic AI features are currently in a testing phase, with a launch for end users anticipated in mid-2025. Intuit aims to continue refining GenOS based on user feedback and intends to merge traditional AI capabilities seamlessly with emergent generative AI technologies.
Reflecting on the broader AI landscape, Srivastava commented, “When you look into the rest of the world, they’re solely focused, it appears to me, at least on what is happening in the generative AI and agentic AI spaces, which is understandable. We are doing the comprehensive understanding and development of traditional AI capabilities that are really going to transform how our customers have work done for them.”
