KUKA Robotics to Showcase Cutting-Edge Robotic Solutions at Montreal Design & Manufacturing Event
Montreal, September 24, 2024 — KUKA Robotics is set to exhibit its latest advancements in robotic learning, augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), human-robot collaboration (HRC), and automated mobility at the Advanced Design & Manufacturing Montreal event. Scheduled for November 13-14, this renowned event will take place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Innovative Educational Technology Demonstrations
In booth 1207, KUKA will present its state-of-the-art educational and AR technologies, specifically designed to revolutionise robotic learning. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore KUKA’s ready2_educate mobile training cell, equipped with the KR 4 AGILUS small industrial robot. This cell uses KUKA.SmartBinPicking software and KUKA.MixedReality software, demonstrating the ease of programming a robotic smart bin-picking operation. The combination of AI object recognition and precise robot path planning allows for high-speed, collision-free bin-picking tasks. This system promises to streamline training for institutions such as schools, universities, and corporate learning centres.
The KR AGILUS robot, a 6-axis model known for its extreme speed and agility, will be showcased alongside this training setup. The mixed reality capabilities of KUKA.MixedReality enable real-time validation of robot paths, tools, and fault geometry, bridging the virtual and real worlds seamlessly.
Human-Robot Collaboration and Interactive Displays
Further highlighting the potential of HRC, KUKA will feature a demonstration with the LBR iisy cobot. The LBR iisy, running on the iiQKA.OS operating system, is engineered to be easily installed, configured, and programmed. At the booth, this cobot will be part of the iiKQA Educational Kit, which includes practical exercises and a mobile base, ideal for educational purposes. The LBR iisy can be operated through manual guidance, and additional tasks can be programmed with ease using the KUKA smartPAD pro, an intuitive teach pendant.
The booth will also spotlight a KR AGILUS robot mounted on a mobile platform and fitted with AIRSKIN®, a sensor system that enhances safety by reducing the robot’s speed upon detecting nearby human presence. In confined spaces, such configurations enable precise and protected operations without the need for safety fencing. The AIRSKIN® technology ensures that if contact occurs, the robot halts immediately, resuming operations once safety is verified.
Advanced Mobility Solutions
On the mobility front, KUKA will unveil the KMP 600-S diffDrive mobile platform automated guided vehicle (AGV). This AGV is tailored for transporting heavy loads, capable of moving at speeds up to 2 meters per second with a payload capacity of up to 600 kg. Its advanced safety features include laser scanners for all-direction travel and 3D camera-based object detection, ensuring safe operations in industrial environments. The integrated lifting device can elevate objects up to 60 mm in under 3 seconds, offering a versatile solution absent of safety fencing, thereby maximising workplace flexibility.
The KMP 600-S diffDrive is designed for tough industrial conditions, showcasing an IP 54-rated structure that performs reliably amid water spray and dust. Installation and maintenance are streamlined through the no-code KUKA.AMR fleet management software and a user-friendly manual controller.
