High-Profile Figures to Speak at Inaugural Women in AI Summit in New York
The Women in AI Summit, presented by ATTN: and The Female Quotient, will see an array of high-profile figures gracing the stage. Chelsea Clinton, model Ashley Graham, and media mogul Arianna Huffington are among those set to speak at the event. This high-profile gathering aims to discuss the vital role of women in shaping the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) while addressing the gender disparity in the industry.
The summit is scheduled to take place on 13 November from 1-6 p.m. ET at Webster Hall in New York. It will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including leading AI experts Allie K. Miller and Dr. Joy Buolamwini, as well as Minerva Tantoco, New York’s first chief technology officer. This half-day event promises to be a melting pot of ideas, exploring AI’s impact across various sectors including marketing, media, and entertainment.
According to a 2020 report by the World Economic Forum, women represent just 26 percent of the global AI workforce. The summit seeks to bridge this gap, ensuring that women are better represented and influential in this rapidly evolving technological field. Hosted in collaboration with Microsoft Advertising, HP Inc., and Amazon Web Services (AWS), the event aims to provide a platform for networking, knowledge-sharing, and fostering strategies for greater female representation in AI.
The agenda for the day includes panel discussions on topics such as AI’s impact on storytelling, the role of AI for creators, the future of advertising, and investment strategies aimed at empowering female leaders in AI. Through these discussions, the summit aims to develop practical and equitable AI use-cases across different industries.
In conjunction with the summit, ATTN: and The Female Quotient will launch a Women in AI Cohort. This six-month programme is designed for 10 emerging leaders in marketing, media, and entertainment. Participants will gain insights on how to leverage AI to enhance their work and further their careers.
“We are at the dawn of the AI revolution, and we have the unique opportunity to ensure that women are leaders in this space,” said Talia Bender Small, president of The Female Quotient. “Putting women at the forefront of the conversation creates perspectives, prevents biased algorithms and upholds ethical standards. It is a strategic imperative. We are proud to partner with ATTN: as we bring together transformative leaders and lead the charge in amplifying women’s voices in AI.”
ATTN: President Taryn Crouthers added, “AI is transforming creative industries, with estimates showing that AI could create over 60 million new jobs by 2025. But to truly unlock its potential, women must play a key role in shaping the future. We’re honoured to join forces with The FQ on our inaugural Women in AI Summit and Women in AI Cohort. This groundbreaking partnership is focused on equipping women across the marketing, media, and entertainment industries with the knowledge and tools they need to lead in the AI revolution.”
The collaboration between The Female Quotient and ATTN: is part of a broader initiative aimed at addressing workplace issues for women and closing the gender gap across various industries. Through events like the Women in AI Summit and programmes like the Women in AI Cohort, these organisations are working to ensure that women have a significant and influential role in the future of AI.
