Meta Tests AI-Generated Content for Personalised Feeds
Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has launched a trial for a new feature that introduces AI-generated content tailored to individual users' interests. Announced on Friday, the "Imagined for You" initiative allows users to see AI-created images incorporating their own likeness in varied and imaginative settings directly on their social media feeds.
Users have the option to visualise themselves in diverse scenarios, such as royalty or astronauts, with AI-generated images utilising photos they have uploaded. Meta emphasises that this feature enables users to "be the star of your own story." This personalised content can then be shared across their social network.
The Verge highlighted that these AI-generated images draw heavily from the photos users have uploaded to their accounts, ensuring highly personalised visuals. Additionally, Meta is exploring the incorporation of other AI-generated images that are custom-tailored to users’ interests, even if these do not involve the users' faces. For instance, one example shared by Meta depicts a captivating scene of an enchanted realm illuminated by moonbeams.
This experimental feature is being trialled on both Facebook and Instagram. Although it remains in the testing phase, the extent of its reach across user accounts has not yet been disclosed.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's CEO, discussed the company's advancements in AI during a presentation at the Meta Connect conference earlier this week. He revealed that Meta AI currently boasts 500 million monthly active users and projected that the AI assistant is on track to become the most-utilized AI assistant globally by the end of the year.
Through these AI innovations, Meta continues to explore new ways to enrich user engagement and enhance the personalisation experience on its social media platforms.
