Avoq Announces Investment in AI-Centric Advertising Firm Sundogs
WASHINGTON, D.C. - 16th October 2023
Avoq, the strategic communications and advocacy powerhouse, has revealed its latest strategic move with an investment in Sundogs, a company at the forefront of AI-driven advertising performance. The announcement was made on Monday, marking a significant step in combining Avoq’s advocacy expertise with Sundogs' cutting-edge data and artificial intelligence capabilities.
This partnership aims to foster innovative solutions that enhance communications performance. According to the statement released by Avoq, both firms will collaborate on developing new offerings that merge their respective strengths. These initiatives will include strategic workshops designed for chief communications officers and their teams, particularly those from major brands, NGOs, and advocacy organisations. These workshops aim to help these professionals effectively navigate the evolving AI landscape, as well as create AI and data-driven services tailored to enhance communication effectiveness.
Sundogs, under the leadership of its founder and CEO Ben Jones, is well-known for leveraging data and AI to improve advertising creativity. Jones, who established Unskippable Labs at Google, brings a wealth of experience in integrating data-driven insights with creative development, making Sundogs a valuable ally for Avoq.
Avoq, established in May 2023 following the merger of Washington, D.C.-based creative advocacy firm Subject Matter and public affairs firm Kivvit, has swiftly positioned itself as a significant player in the strategic communications industry. Now rebranded as Avoq, the firm employs over 200 people across various key locations including Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York, New Jersey, and Miami.
The investment in Sundogs underscores Avoq’s commitment to staying ahead of industry trends by integrating advanced technologies with its advocacy and strategic communication services. This move is inevitably supported by Coral Tree Partners, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm that owns Avoq and specialises in media, entertainment, and communications sector investments.
Avoq’s recent performance highlights its robust standing in the industry, with a reported 2% revenue increase, bringing its total to $89 million in 2023, according to PRWeek’s Agency Business Report 2024.
As Avoq and Sundogs embark on this collaborative journey, they are poised to drive significant advancements in the realm of strategic communications, combining AI-driven innovations with impactful advocacy and creative direction.
