DeepL, a leading language translation company, has announced the launch of its first US Technology Hub in New York City. This strategic expansion aims to enhance the company's research and product development capabilities to maintain its market leadership in the United States and provide improved support for its continuously growing network of business clients across the nation.

The new office will act as DeepL’s central tech hub in the US, with a robust focus on innovation and customer-centric solutions. Currently employing a range of local talent, the company plans to expand its workforce by doubling the size of the hub over the next 12 months. Areas of particular hiring interest include product development and engineering roles to leverage the rich talent pool available in New York City.

This opening is a critical step in DeepL’s ongoing growth in the American market. DeepL’s clientele includes half of the Fortune 500 companies and leading firms across various sectors, such as Morningstar Inc., Zendesk, and Coursera. The New York hub is expected to drive product innovation and support these influential business partnerships even further.

In tandem with the New York Tech Hub announcement, DeepL also confirmed the appointment of two new members to its executive team. Sebastian Enderlein has joined as the Chief Technology Officer, while Steve Rotter steps in as the Chief Marketing Officer. Both executives bring extensive industry experience and are set to steer DeepL towards new advancements in language AI.

DeepL’s CEO and Founder, Jarek Kutylowski, highlighted the strategic importance of the new hub, stating, “Launching DeepL’s first US tech hub in New York City positions us at the centre of one of the largest talent pools in the market and brings us closer to our customers, including many Fortune 500 companies.” He further emphasised that this initiative would drive product innovation and engineering, enabling the company to offer cutting-edge language AI solutions.

Enderlein expressed excitement about joining a mission-focused company like DeepL, which is dedicated to addressing real-world challenges such as breaking down language barriers. "With AI on everyone’s mind right now, what drew me to DeepL is its commitment to purpose-driven technology," Enderlein remarked.

The sentiment was echoed by Rotter, who underscored the essential role of clear communication in business growth. "As a marketer, I’ve seen firsthand how language can make or break a business. In a world where clarity and consistency can set a brand apart, language barriers are a major obstacle to growth," Rotter said.

DeepL, founded in 2017, has swiftly grown its international customer base, now serving over 100,000 businesses, governments, and organisations worldwide. This announcement follows other significant milestones for the company, including the release of updates to its Glossary feature and the unveiling of its next-generation large language model (LLM). This model surpasses major competitors like GPT-4, Google, and Microsoft in terms of translation quality, raising the bar for personalisation, accuracy, and performance.

Earlier this year, DeepL also secured $300 million in new investment, culminating in a $2 billion valuation. These accomplishments underscore DeepL's ongoing commitment to refining language translation and further solidifying its position in the global market.
