Global AI Leaders to Convene in Valencia for VDS2024
Valencia is set to host the seventh edition of the Valencia Digital Summit (VDS) on the 23rd and 24th of October, bringing together top global leaders in the field of artificial intelligence. Organised by Startup Valencia, this international tech event will delve into the multifaceted challenges and burgeoning opportunities presented by AI, alongside its transformative impact on society. The event aims to address the burgeoning market demands driven by AI technology, which is rapidly revolutionising development, integration, application, and investment landscapes.
The summit, VDS2024, will feature over twenty AI-focused talks, aiming to dissect the role of this cutting-edge technology across various sectors and domains. Discussions will cover themes such as tackling AI funding challenges, the impact of AI on people management, and the ethical and legal implications of AI in the audiovisual sector. The sessions will be held across three main stages: the Main Stage, the Santander Stage—sponsored by Banco Santander—and the Audiovisual Stage, supported by the Generalitat Valenciana, Ciudad de la Luz, and the Comunitat Valenciana Film Commission.
Notable leaders in the AI realm confirmed to participate include Randi Zuckerberg, creator of Facebook Live and Founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media and HUG. She will provide insights on personal development and scaling businesses around AI. Joaquín Cuenca, CEO of Freepik, will join a panel discussion on leadership in AI alongside Álvaro Martínez, CEO of Luzia, and Carlos Santana, partner at investment firm EQT Partners. Armand Ruiz, Vice President of Product AI at IBM, will deliver a keynote address on the future of work shaped by AI.
The first day will also feature roundtable discussions connecting vital AI and financial sector players. Among the participants will be Samuel Gil from JME Ventures, Roman Orus from Multiverse Computing, and Ton van’t Noordende, partner at QDNL Participations.
Other prominent speakers include Jimmy Klein, Global Innovation Director at Diageo, Sara Martínez, Founder/CEO of Bentónico, Paz Vega, Founder of Aitaca, and Sonia Paz, Co-Founder of Miraiku.ai, who will explore the significance of collaborations between companies to foster sector growth.
Another key figure to watch out for is Ahmed Menshawy, Vice President of AI Engineering at Mastercard, who will lead a panel on advancements in generative AI in business alongside Neema Balolebwami, CEO and AI expert at Neema.ai.
Unique insights into AI success stories will be shared by Tony Beltramelli, Head of Products, AI, and Prototypes at Miro and former CEO of Uizard, elaborating on Uizard’s journey and milestones.
The event will further investigate the role of generative AI in business transformation and the future of foundational models through presentations by leaders such as Amr Awadallah, CEO & Co-Founder of Cloudera/Vectara, and Tom Mason, CTO of Unlikely AI.
The intersecting relationship between AI and human elements will also receive attention with roundtables that include Maite Sanz, Director of ORH Editorial Group, Yolanda Gutiérrez Rodríguez, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland, and Carmen Reina, Head of Data Culture at Orange.
VDS2024 will emphasise the nexus between investment and entrepreneurship, offering ample opportunities for networking and leadership panels. These will be led by prominent figures such as Alessandra Sala, Senior Director of AI and Data Science at Shutterstock; Javier Villamizar, Operating Partner at Softbank Investment Advisors; and María Wasastjerna, Managing Partner at Kvanted Ventures.
The VDS Startup Competition spotlights AI as a dominant technology, with more than half of the participating startups operating in this domain, highlighting its growing importance in the international tech ecosystem. In addition to AI, startups are integrating other pivotal technologies such as Big Data, Cloud Computing, ICT Information & Communication, Blockchain, and the Internet of Things, signifying AI's foundational role in driving innovation and success in the tech industry.
As the event approaches, Valencia gears up to become a global hub for AI thought leadership, fostering discussions that promise to shape the future of technology and its societal impacts.
