TGV 4 Plus Fund Invests Further $2 Million in Art Platform Printler for Global Expansion

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering its position in the international market, Printler, a Swedish platform revolutionising the way art reaches global audiences, has secured an additional $2 million investment from TGV 4 Plus Fund (TGV). This new funding tranche, comprising secondaries and a convertible note, is set to fuel Printler's ambitious plans for global expansion and the enhancement of its AI-powered marketplace.

Founded in 2020 by Andreas Holmgren and Andreas Önstorp, Printler has emerged as a significant player in the European art e-commerce scene. The platform connects independent artists with art enthusiasts, currently featuring approximately 100,000 artworks from over 17,000 artists across 14 European markets. The company's innovative use of AI to effectively match buyers with artworks has been pivotal in driving its growth, as CEO Andreas Holmgren emphasises the role of technology in helping art lovers find pieces that resonate personally.

This recent growth is underscored by an impressive 73% increase in 2024, significantly outstripping the less than 10% growth observed across the broader European e-commerce sector. Printler’s turnover for the year is estimated to reach $7 million, with projections to surpass $10 million in 2025. Notably, the company has been operating with cash-flow positivity since mid-2023, underscoring its financial viability and potential for future success.

The investment from TGV, known for its backing of AI and blockchain-driven companies, marks a deepening of the partnership between the two entities. TGV's managing partner, Fredrik Adolfsson, expressed enthusiasm about supporting Printler’s journey, highlighting the potent combination of AI technology and a unique marketplace that Printler represents. “Printler’s success so far shows the strength of combining AI with a unique marketplace," Adolfsson stated. "With our global presence, we are confident that we can support Printler in bringing this vision to a much larger audience.”

Andreas Holmgren also spoke positively about the enhanced cooperation with TGV, pointing out the global reach and partner network TGV brings to the table, which will significantly aid in Printler’s international expansion efforts. The company plans to use the funds to further refine its AI tools, aiming to provide a superior user experience for both artists and buyers as it prepares to enter non-European markets.

Looking ahead, Printler is poised to leverage TGV’s global network, focusing on refining its platform to make the art buying and selling process as seamless as possible. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to tap into international markets where opportunities abound for its unique, artist-focused e-commerce platform.
