The "AI in Practice Competition" has been announced, offering a unique opportunity for architects and designers from around the globe to showcase a fusion of modern innovation and historical architecture in the vibrant city of London. This prestigious contest is sponsored by Studio Tim Fu and organised by PAACADEMY, aiming to explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in architectural design.
Scheduled to commence with an introduction panel on October 6th, 2024, the competition invites individual participants to envision a landmark building in the heart of London. The challenge is to create a concept that not only stands out with its innovative use of AI but also harmonises with the city's rich architectural heritage. Participants are encouraged to submit an iconic residential building or a mixed-use tower, among other structures, demonstrating both creativity and practicality.
To be eligible for the competition, individuals must register by October 20th, 2024. Submissions are due by October 22nd, with the winners to be announced on November 14th, 2024. A participation fee of €35 is required to enter the competition, which will be conducted entirely online through the PAACADEMY website.
Entries will be judged on several criteria including design aesthetics, feasibility, AI workflow innovation, originality, and adherence to the competition's brief. The competition offers an enticing prize pool with the overall winner receiving a cash prize of $2,200, along with featured publications and a certificate of participation. Second and third place winners, as well as three honourable mentions, will also be rewarded with cash prizes, certificates, and publication opportunities.
The event is judged by an impressive panel of industry experts, all associated with Studio Tim Fu. This includes Tim Fu himself, an acclaimed architectural designer with a background in advanced computation and AI, and founder of Studio Tim Fu. Saina Abdollahzadeh brings her expertise in human-centric design and GenAI technology to the panel. Rada Daleva, known for her work in Generative Algorithm design and diffusion AI, and Marco Alfaro, who leads STF Labs in advancing AI applications in architecture, complete the jury.
Studio Tim Fu has also hinted at the possibility of internship and employment opportunities for winners, providing a significant incentive for participants.
