MiTAC Computing Unveils New High-Performance Servers Powered by AMD Technologies
NEWARK, Calif., 11 October 2024 – MiTAC Computing Technology Corporation, a prominent player in the server platform design industry and a subsidiary of MiTAC Holdings Corporation, has announced the release of its new high-performance server models. These servers are equipped with the latest AMD EPYC™ 9005 series CPUs and AMD Instinct™ MI325X accelerators. This development marks a significant advancement, with MiTAC building on its longstanding collaboration with AMD to meet the evolving needs of AI-driven data centres.
AMD, known for providing reliable data centre solutions across leading enterprises globally, sees this partnership as another step in addressing the requirements of organisations involved in AI initiatives, extensive cloud deployments, and critical business applications. Ravi Kuppuswamy, Senior Vice President of the Server Business Unit at AMD, emphasised the importance of their fifth-generation processors. He stated these CPUs offer not only performance with flexibility and reliability but also maintain compatibility across the x86 data centre ecosystem, thus serving various tailored data centre demands.
Rick Hwang, President of MiTAC Computing Technology Corporation, expressed the company's enthusiasm for this product launch, highlighting the transformative impact that AI has across various sectors. The new servers incorporate the high-efficiency "Zen 5" core architecture, designed to meet modern AI-based data centre needs with a range of core counts, frequencies, and energy efficiency levels, while supporting extensive x86 software compatibility.
MiTAC's server offerings, powered by AMD EPYC™ 9005-series CPUs, are particularly designed to handle AI-driven intensive workloads efficiently, thereby optimising performance and density while minimising space and energy consumption.
Among the new offerings are three models aimed at AI/HPC domains:
- MiTAC TYAN TN85-B8261, a dual-socket GPU server, featuring a standard 2U form factor, supporting four GPU cards, 24 DDR5 RDIMM slots, and eight 2.5-inch hot-swap NVMe U.2 drive bays, tailored for high-performance computing and deep learning.
- MiTAC TYAN FT65T-B8050, a 4U single-socket GPU server, accommodating up to two high-performance GPU cards, eight DDR5 RDIMM slots, and a combination of eight 3.5-inch SATA and two 2.5-inch NVMe U.2 hot-swap drives.
- MiTAC G8825Z5, an 8U dual-socket server that supports the latest AMD Instinct™ MI325X GPU accelerators, designed for large-scale AI and HPC infrastructures.
For cloud storage, MiTAC introduces:
- MiTAC TYAN TS70-B8056 and TS70A-B8056, both 2U models. The former features 12 3.5-inch front hot-swap slots with two 2.5-inch rear NVMe U.2 trays, while the latter, optimised for high IOPS, includes 26 2.5-inch NVMe U.2 hot-swap trays.
Furthermore, MiTAC offers the MiTAC TYAN GC68C-B8056, a 1U single-socket cloud server incorporating 24 DDR5 registered DIMM slots and 12 2.5-inch NVMe U.2 hot-swap drive bays, designed to be efficient and space-saving.
MiTAC has also unveiled two single-socket motherboards: the compact MiTAC TYAN S8050 and the rack-optimised MiTAC TYAN S8056. The company now consolidates all products under the MiTAC brand name, following the integration of TYAN and MiTAC branding from October 2024.
