Zoom and ServiceNow to Unveil Integrated AI Technologies by 2025
At Zoomtopia 2024, an annual event showcasing Zoom's latest innovations, the company announced a significant milestone in its partnership with ServiceNow: the planned integration of ServiceNow’s NowAssist with Zoom’s AI Companion by the first half of 2025. This collaboration promises to enhance workplace productivity by merging advanced generative AI technologies to automate and streamline tasks across both platforms.
A Strategic Alliance Augmented
ServiceNow, renowned for its expertise in IT business, operations, and service management, heralds this integration as a defining moment that could usher in a "new era" of intelligence for organisations. The move is expected to improve collaboration and increase productivity as businesses leverage the enhanced capabilities to optimise workflows within their existing systems.
The two companies have maintained a fruitful partnership since their initial collaboration in 2018. Over the years, this relationship has flourished, especially amid the global shift towards remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which Zoom emerged as a leading video conferencing tool.
Bill McDermott, ServiceNow’s Chairman and CEO, highlighted the shifting perspective among business leaders. “CEOs are transitioning from AI fascination to AI‑led business strategies for exponential improvements in how their companies run,” McDermott noted. He further explained that the integration would transform conversations into actionable tasks, thus freeing up resources and allowing employees to focus on more critical work.
Meeting Increasing AI Demands
The collaboration responds to growing interest in AI tools for business applications. According to findings highlighted by Gartner, there is a surge in demand as 92% of employees express a desire for AI tools to assist with administrative tasks and information summarisation.
By integrating NowAssist and AI Companion, the two companies aim to meet this demand by simplifying such processes and supporting teams in their efforts to increase efficiency. For instance, during team collaborations, Zoom’s AI Companion can summarise meetings and convert these discussions into actionable items. These tasks are then seamlessly integrated into ServiceNow’s workflows, thanks to NowAssist for Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM).
Following meetings, essential insights and summaries are automatically distributed to attendees, ensuring that key points, action steps, and follow-ups are clearly communicated. Eric S. Yuan, Zoom’s founder and CEO, underscored the significance of this partnership, stating, “Integrating Zoom AI Companion with ServiceNow takes productivity to the next level, empowering customers to move seamlessly from meetings to productivity, reducing admin time and streamlining workflows.”
Unveiling AI Companion 2.0
Amid these announcements, Zoom introduced AI Companion 2.0, the latest iteration of its productivity assistant, during the Zoomtopia event. This "next-generation" version aims to further assist users in managing their daily tasks and enhancing decision-making processes. It is designed to be available directly within the Zoom Workplace through a convenient side panel, ensuring that essential discussions and information remain accessible for improved efficiency.
As these companies continue to innovate and enhance their collaborative capabilities, their shared vision appears poised to have a significant impact on the way organisations operate, potentially redefining productivity standards in the modern workplace.
