Flex Power Modules, a notable name in advanced power solutions, has announced the release of new Intermediate Bus Converters (IBCs) tailored for the energy-intensive environments of data centres. These latest innovations aim to bolster the efficiency of power supply systems, specifically geared towards supporting artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and cloud computing infrastructures.
The newly launched BMR321 module is particularly noteworthy, developed in alignment with the goals of the Open Compute Project (OCP). This initiative is dedicated to reducing energy consumption while enhancing the scalability and design of data centre power architectures. The BMR321 is characterised by a fixed ratio 8:1 conversion, efficiently reducing voltage from 40-60V to 5-7.5V. The device delivers a remarkable 750 watts continuously, with a maximum power output extending to 1500 watts, thereby ensuring robust performance even under demanding conditions.
What sets the BMR321 apart is its ability to achieve peak efficiency exceeding 98%, which is significant in the domain of DC/DC power conversion. This high level of efficiency complies with the OCP's standard OAM V2.0, underscoring Flex Power Modules' commitment to innovation in keeping with modern industry standards. Sporting a compact design with dimensions of 41.47 x 17.67 x 6.9 mm, the module combines powerful capabilities with space-saving efficiency.
In conjunction with the BMR321, Flex Power Modules is expanding its BMR320 range, unveiling a new variant that sustains 400 watts of power continuously, with the capability of surging to 740 watts during peak loads. This variant maintains the same compact form factor as its predecessors, offering versatility and scalability by allowing systems to accommodate fluctuations in power requirements through the parallel operation of up to three modules.
Looking forward, Flex Power Modules is also gearing up to introduce the BMR323 module, projected for release in early 2025. This upcoming addition is expected to enhance the power delivery capacity over its predecessors, reinforcing the company's reputation for cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving demands of next-generation data centres.
All of these new offerings are harmonised with the Flex Power Designer software, which provides extensive monitoring and configuration capabilities. Utilising a PMBus® interface, this software utility enables precise control and adaptation of critical power supply parameters, ensuring that the converters deliver optimal performance tailored to specific environmental needs.
