Husqvarna Unveils Innovative AI-Enabled Robotic Mowers for Commercial Turf Care

Husqvarna, a leading name in the realm of robotic mowing, has introduced a cutting-edge new platform of autonomous lawn care equipment designed specifically for the commercial sector. This platform sees the launch of two advanced robotic mowers in the UK market - the Automower® 580L EPOS™ and the Automower® 560 EPOS™ - anticipated to make significant inroads in the maintenance of sports fields, golf courses, and various commercial landscapes.

Launch Timeline and Product Features

Set to be available from March 2025, these mowers are designed to combine power, performance, and efficiency with state-of-the-art autonomous capabilities. Both models boast a wire-free mowing feature, enhancing operational flexibility, and offer selectable cutting patterns to cater to varying turf needs. These innovations are tailored to allow businesses to maintain their landscapes with minimal manual intervention, efficiently reducing maintenance costs while ensuring high-quality turf.

The Automower® 580L EPOS™, especially designed for golf courses and sports clubs, is equipped with a low-cut disc for precision cutting, facilitating mowing heights as low as 10mm. It can cover up to 16,000 m² in 48 hours, and is priced at £7,799 (including VAT). Meanwhile, the Automower® 560 EPOS™, tailored for facilities management, is designed to operate effectively in hilly and complex landscapes, handling slopes of up to 50%. It covers areas up to 12,000 m² in the same time frame and is priced at £6,099 (including VAT).

Strategic Vision and Technological Integration

These developments are part of Husqvarna’s broader strategic vision to revolutionise the landscape industry through smart, autonomous technology. Glen Instone, President Forest & Garden at Husqvarna, commented on the launch, highlighting the rising demand for reliable commercial autonomous turf care solutions. “With the new products, we can now address more customer needs and develop a new market segment for commercial robotic lawn mowers, building on the success from Husqvarna CEORA™,” Instone noted.

The platform is also designed with future technological enhancements in mind. It is compatible with forthcoming features such as solar panel chargers for remote applications, and an AI-ready camera for night vision and exceptional obstacle avoidance, scheduled to be available in 2026. These features are part of Husqvarna’s effort to offer a robust, adaptable system for users like sports clubs and facilities managers.

Commercial and Operational Benefits

Husqvarna’s new mowers not only represent a significant step forward in autonomous mowing technology but also align with the company's commitment to providing its commercial users with advanced tools that boost productivity and results. The company aims to redefine the commercial lawn care sector by leveraging their expertise in robotics innovation.

The announcement and subsequent availability of these new models underscore a growing trend towards the adoption of automated solutions in the commercial landscape maintenance industry, catering to a diverse array of needs from precise golf course upkeep to versatile facility management.
