In a significant development for the health industry in India, Lifechart, a pioneering gut wellness brand, has successfully gathered around $250,000 in funding. The investment was spearheaded by Prajay Advisors LLP, with transactional guidance from Cignas of NA Shah Advisors LLP based in Mumbai. The funding round also witnessed participation from Agility Ventures, Expert Dojo, and various angel investors including notable figures such as Ahana Gautam, Nitish Mittersain, Founder of Nazara Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Sarath Sura, Founder of Sunn91 Ventures, and Marwari Angels. Convertible instruments held by these investors were transitioned into equity in this funding round.

The focus on gut health has grown considerably in India, where issues like constipation, indigestion, and acidity impact 70% of the population. Predictions suggest the global gut health market could reach $18 billion by 2025–26. Lifechart is strategically poised to meet this rising demand through comprehensive product and service offerings that span from diagnostics to treatment.

Founded to tackle growing gut health issues, Lifechart has made a substantial impact, reaching over 250,000 customers mainly from Tier 2, 3, and 4 regions. The brand offers a full range of solutions informed by AI-driven technology and a cadre of qualified medical professionals. Currently, Lifechart is in the midst of augmenting its team by hiring 50 new BAMS and BHMS doctors to better handle increasing demands in underrepresented areas.

Discussing the new funding, Mukul Shah, CEO and Co-founder of Lifechart, expressed gratitude for the trust shown by investors during challenging economic times. He detailed plans to use the funds to enhance AI capabilities, introduce proprietary diagnostic solutions, and expand into Tier 1 cities. Shah emphasised Lifechart’s unique focus on both diagnosing and treating gut issues, distinguishing it from other companies primarily focused on product sales.

To extend its reach, Lifechart intends to launch India’s first plant-based microbiome-centric products for Tier 1 cities, formulated by BAMS doctors. These will provide natural, comprehensive solutions for gut health problems. Future product lines include Gut Wellness kits, targeting common issues such as constipation and fatty liver.

A key component of Lifechart’s strategic expansion involves enhancing its AI platform to anticipate the geographic spread of gut disorders. This predictive capability will allow Lifechart to tailor its services to specific regional needs, increasing efficacy and impact.

Additionally, the company plans to launch DIY diagnostic kits, enabling home testing for gut health, combined with professional consultations and AI-driven insights. This approach aims to offer long-term dietary and lifestyle recommendations tailored to individual needs.

Mukul Shah also credited Lifechart's strong customer trust, evidenced by a 42% monthly repeat customer rate, as pivotal to its profitability and future growth prospects. The new capital is slated to help triple Lifechart’s revenue over the next year and expand its doctor network, AI models, and establish India’s first gut wellness clinics and supermarkets.

Dr Prakash Mody of Unichem Laboratory and Mr Jayendra Shah of Prajay LLP have shown strong support for Lifechart’s mission. In a joint statement, they affirmed the global importance of gut health and expressed confidence in Mukul Shah’s leadership, citing his successful entrepreneurial background with ventures like YoloBus.

Lifechart’s track record of profitability over the past year positions it well to scale operations, with plans to open 150 gut wellness clinics across India over the next three years. In continuation of its expansion efforts, the company is exploring the possibility of raising an additional $1.5–$2 million through a venture capital firm from Delhi NCR.
