Shell India Launches New EdTech Initiatives to Enhance STEM Learning

Hyderabad, October 18, 2024 – Shell India has unveiled an ambitious suite of educational technology (EdTech) initiatives designed to provide future generations with a robust education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). These cutting-edge programmes are set to be deployed in various schools across Delhi NCR, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. They utilise advanced digital tools, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics, to identify and bridge individual learning gaps, creating tailored educational experiences for students.

The initiative represents a collaboration with Pratham Infotech Foundation, Education Initiatives, and Khan Academy, and builds upon the success of Shell's globally recognised NXplorers programme. This flagship initiative, implemented with the support of Learning Links Foundation and Smile Foundation, has already benefited over 300,000 students across India by enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Latika Taneja, Head of Corporate Relations at Shell India, highlighted the company’s dedication to STEM education, stating: "At Shell, we are more than just advocates for STEM education; we are its passionate champions! With these new innovative programmes, we are excited to harness the power of digital technology to design personalised learning curriculums and make learning more fun and interactive. Our new partnerships, coupled with our ongoing association with NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission for NXplorers, are pivotal to our mission of fostering inclusive growth and empowering the next generation.”

Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, Mission Director at the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, expressed enthusiasm for the expanded collaboration, adding, "When systems thinking is harnessed effectively, it can spark transformative movements. Shell’s NXplorers programme demystifies complex systems thinking, transforming it into engaging workshops that empower students to become innovative problem solvers. As we are expanding our partnership with Shell India, we aim to reach more students, equipping them with the tools and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to India’s growing innovation ecosystem."

As part of the rollout, comprehensive teacher training programmes will be provided to help educators create dynamic and personalised learning environments. This is aimed at overcoming existing foundational learning gaps among students and providing them with access to advanced STEM education. The innovative approach underpins Shell India's commitment to fostering a new wave of skilled problem solvers who can contribute to India's burgeoning innovation sector.

The strategic expansion of the NXplorers programme, in partnership with the Atal Innovation Mission, is expected to significantly upscale in the coming years, reaching a wider pool of students keen to develop essential skills for the modern economy. This initiative represents Shell's steadfast commitment to leveraging technological advancements in education to empower the youth and bolster nationwide educational infrastructure.
