AdventHealth has made a noteworthy advancement in cardiac care within Flagler County by integrating an innovative, artificial intelligence-driven technology named CathWorks. This new tool is currently in use at AdventHealth Palm Coast and AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway, aiming to refine the diagnosis and treatment of heart blockages. According to a recent media release from AdventHealth, the introduction of CathWorks signifies a significant enhancement in patient care, improving both the accuracy and safety of cardiac procedures.
CathWorks employs sophisticated computer-based software to assist cardiologists in precisely identifying problematic areas within the arteries of the heart. Dr. Dean Abtahi, an interventional cardiologist affiliated with AdventHealth, highlighted the impact of this technology in the official statement. He noted, "This technology helps us identify which blockages need to be treated more effectively. It’s a big step forward in ensuring patients get the best possible care."
Since its deployment in May 2024, CathWorks has been integrated into approximately 80% of cases deemed eligible for its application in Flagler County. So far, the technology has been utilised in 85 cases at AdventHealth Palm Coast, supplemented by an additional 10 procedures conducted at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway. The positive reception and effectiveness of CathWorks are evident as AdventHealth plans to expand its usage to other locations, with AdventHealth Fish Memorial in Orange City slated as the next facility to adopt this cutting-edge technology.
As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, the deployment of CathWorks at AdventHealth sites illustrates the institution's dedication to incorporating technological advancements to enhance patient outcomes. The use of AI in healthcare, particularly in cardiology, marks a promising frontier in the medical field, allowing for greater precision and efficiency in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
