Box, the prominent intelligent content management platform, has launched a new feature allowing users to leverage Amazon Bedrock in the creation of applications using their own data alongside foundation models such as Anthropic’s Claude and Amazon Titan. This development comes off the back of an expanded strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), with the new capabilities being made available from Thursday, 24 October.

This collaboration cements the growing integration between Box and AWS, aiming to substantially enhance the functionality of the Box Intelligent Content Cloud. This partnership aims to provide Box’s customers with a greater degree of choice, enabling enterprises to utilise AI models within the confines of their existing Box environment, as explained by Ben Kus, Chief Technology Officer at Box. Kus expressed that the integration significantly augments the value of Box's offerings for enterprises, allowing them to harness AI models within their already established workflow on the platform.

The newly announced capabilities are designed to allow businesses of varying sizes to utilise artificial intelligence models on their data, paving the way for the creation of generative AI applications. Furthermore, it provides tools for extracting greater intelligence from their data through a Box connector specifically designed for the Amazon Q Business generative AI assistant.

This integration will facilitate businesses in managing their data within Box to seek answers, summarise information, generate content, and accomplish tasks more efficiently. Vasi Philomin, AWS's Vice President of Generative AI, remarked that both AWS and Box understand the critical need for companies to effectively and securely leverage their own content to maximise the benefits of generative AI. He affirmed that the partnership is set to simplify the process for customers to apply cutting-edge generative AI models to their data seamlessly.

Amazon Bedrock, launched in April 2023, is a notable platform by AWS designed to give customers access to various foundation models not only from AWS but also developed by partner companies. This initiative allows users to select a model that best fits their requirements for drafting their own generative AI applications.

Furthermore, Amazon introduced the Amazon Q Business assistant in April 2023, which serves as a generative AI tool assisting employees in obtaining information related to company policies, product details, business results, and more. It is capable of interfacing with over 40 widely-used business tools, making it a comprehensive solution for navigating business data.

The integration stands as a significant development in the realm of AI applications and content management, providing businesses with robust tools and models, thus broadening the landscape for creating and implementing AI-driven solutions within organisational frameworks.
