LG has introduced its latest line of VX washing machines to the United Kingdom market, incorporating advanced artificial intelligence features designed to enhance the washing experience and promote environmental responsibility. This launch follows a successful reception in other markets earlier in 2024.
The new models, VX700 and VX900, represent the latest iteration of LG's AI Wash technology, a system that optimally customises the washing process to reduce fabric damage by 12% compared to traditional washing cycles. By employing sophisticated AI algorithms, these machines assess the weight and sensitivity of laundry items and adjust washing patterns accordingly. This intelligent function draws on a database of over 20,000 different materials, ensuring a gentler wash for delicates while reserving a more robust cycle for tougher fabrics like denim.
A notable advancement in these models is the innovative spin cycle adjustment, designed to decrease friction on clothes, thereby significantly reducing the production of ocean-bound microplastics by 60% per cycle. This feature contributes to the machines' eco-friendly credentials, aligning with growing consumer concerns about sustainability.
The VX900 has achieved a milestone as Europe’s first A-55% rated washer, leading the market in energy efficiency. Although Samsung plans to release a competing product soon, LG has secured an advantage by being the first to market this level of efficiency. The VX900's energy-saving prowess is complemented by cost-saving innovations such as the EZdispense system, which can economise up to £15 on detergent for every 100 washes, thanks to precise dispensing technology.
Both models distinguish themselves with sleek, minimalist designs, featuring large LCD screens integrated into their main control dials. Available in a choice of Matte Black, Silver, and White, these machines cater to various aesthetic preferences. In addition, both models are equipped with Wi-Fi capability, enabling users to interface with the ThinQ smart home app. Through the app, owners can receive preventive maintenance alerts and connect with service centres if repairs or assistance are required.
These new washing machines are competitively priced, starting at £830, and are available from major UK appliance retailers such as Currys, John Lewis, and Marks Electrical. This launch underscores LG's commitment to innovation in home appliances, blending technology with sustainability to meet the needs of the modern consumer.
