Odyssey, a prominent name in the golfing industry, has announced the expansion of its innovative Ai-One and Ai-One Milled putter lines with the introduction of eight new models, set to hit the market in 2024. These technologically advanced putters are designed to cater to a broader range of players by incorporating artificial intelligence into their design for improved performance on the golf course.
The newly added models to the Ai-One line include the Wing Back, 24, 2-Ball Jailbird, and 2-Ball Jailbird Cruiser. The Wing Back and 24 represent completely new shapes crafted by Odyssey, while the 2-Ball Jailbird Cruiser introduces a configuration that has gained popularity on the professional tour due to its counterbalanced design.
Similarly, the Ai-One Milled series will welcome four new designs: the 2-Ball T, Jailbird Mini T, Rossie V T, and One Wide V T Blade. Of particular note is the Rossie model, which shares the same shape used by golfing star Jon Rahm during his victorious run at the 2023 Masters Tournament.
Odyssey has made significant strides in the design of these putters by incorporating AI-designed inserts in all eight models. The aluminium-backed contours aim to enhance the consistency of ball speed across the putter face, allowing for more reliable performance even on mishits, which are designed to travel the same distance as strikes from the sweet spot. Odyssey's tests suggest that this technology results in putts that end 21 percent closer to the hole compared to previous designs.
The Ai-One Milled putters feature a titanium insert with similarly AI-designed contours to enhance ball speed consistency. In controlled robotic tests, it was found that these putters bring the ball 10 percent closer to the hole than a standard milled putter face, signifying a marked improvement.
Both lines are equipped with the advanced Stroke Lab SL90 shaft. This shaft includes a 20-30 gram counterweight, depending on the grip, located at the butt end to increase the club's stability during swings. The 90-gram shaft offers a significant reduction in weight compared to standard putter shafts, being 25 to 30 grams lighter, yet maintains its robustness by being 20 grams heavier than previous Stroke Lab models.
These new putter models are priced at $299.99 for the standard Ai-One models, $349.99 for the Jailbird Cruiser, and $449.99 for the Ai-One Milled options. They will be available for purchase starting November 1, 2023, with pre-orders currently open for those eager to update their equipment before the new golfing season begins.
