Arcade, a groundbreaking AI-driven jewellery platform, is revolutionising the way personal jewellery designs are created and brought to life. Launched by Mariam Naficy, the founder of Minted, Arcade has successfully navigated its beta phase and is set to roll out to the public. This innovative marketplace has attracted attention and backing from notable figures, including Karlie Kloss, Christy Turlington Burns, and Colin Kaepernick.

On this cutting-edge platform, users are invited to input their jewellery design ideas, ranging from the simple to the complex. This could be something as straightforward as a chain-link bracelet or as detailed as a gemstone-encrusted zodiac pendant necklace. Once these ideas are submitted, the AI engine works to generate images tailored to the user’s specifications, offering options for customisation such as different gemstone colours or varying chain dimensions. Upon completion of the design phase, these bespoke pieces are available in high-quality materials including sterling silver and 14-karat gold.

The projected popular category for the platform includes engagement rings, a market which Arcade supports with its capability to incorporate lab-grown diamonds. The production process is facilitated by a network of 12 expert manufacturers, located in New York, Los Angeles, India, and Thailand, whom Arcade refers to as "makers." These partners complete the creation of each unique piece, matched to them based on the intricacies of the jewellery requested.

Naficy highlights that the platform not only offers creative opportunities for consumers but also enhances business prospects for manufacturers. "They want to do more custom work, but communicating customer requests has always been challenging," she explained. Arcade's use of AI-generated images simplifies this process, transcending the limitations of verbal descriptions.

The platform's capabilities, however, are currently limited by the materials available through its partners. The AI programme generates a “coming soon” notification for designs requiring unavailable materials, with plans underway to expand these options promptly. Each design is assessed for its complexity, which determines both its manufacturing partner and its retail price.

Importantly, precautionary measures have been implemented to prevent copyright infringement. The AI filters are programmed to exclude branded jewellery styles and names, preventing the replication of renowned designs. In cases where users might attempt creating designer-inspired pieces, the platform suggests unique alternatives.

Arcade also accommodates users wishing to recreate sentimental jewellery, such as lost heirlooms, although these can be flagged for potential copyright concerns. Customers can reach out directly to explain the significance of specific replicas.

Additionally, Arcade collaborates with "dreamers," content creators who curate and market their own jewellery designs on the platform, earning commission from sales. This synergy with designers further diversifies the offerings available on Arcade.

Looking ahead, while there is burgeoning interest in expanding beyond jewellery to apparel, Naficy noted the challenges posed by sizing in clothing. Therefore, Arcade plans to first explore other accessory categories for future growth.

Arcade positions itself as a unique marketplace aimed at crafting personal and meaningful items. As Naficy notes, the vision is to create items that are more personal and meaningful than mass-produced fashion, placing a significant emphasis on user input and the story behind each design.
