The CW Network and Shopsense AI have announced a groundbreaking collaboration set to enhance the viewing experience for college football fans starting this November. This partnership will see the integration of Shopsense's innovative Commerce Operating System (Commerce OS) within The CW's broadcasts of ACC college football games, commencing with the Virginia Tech versus Syracuse matchup on 2nd November.

This collaboration introduces a new way for fans to engage with their favourite sports. By utilising Shopsense's advanced Commerce OS, viewers will have the capability to purchase game-day essentials and team merchandise directly from their mobile devices, simply by interacting with the broadcast content. This feature is set to redefine the viewing experience, merging the thrill of live sports with the convenience of seamless online shopping.

The initiative represents a new chapter in televised sports, as described by Laura Lamattina, Vice President and Creative Director of Branded Entertainment at The CW. “By bringing shoppable TV to The CW’s ACC college football broadcasts, we’re merging the excitement of live sports with cutting-edge technology that enhances fan experiences and creates dynamic, engaging brand opportunities,” Lamattina explained.

Shopsense AI, known for its advanced technological solutions, launched its enterprise platform earlier this year in April, which has evolved into the comprehensive Commerce OS. This operating system is distinguished by its suite of TV Shopability and Consumer Activation tools, designed to transform how brands connect with consumers through interactive and revenue-driven shopping experiences during television broadcasts.

Glenn Fishback, CEO and Co-founder of Shopsense AI, expressed enthusiasm for the venture, highlighting the unique energy and passion of college football fans. “College football has some of the most passionate and engaged fans in all of sports, and we’re excited to harness that energy with our game-changing shoppable TV technology,” Fishback stated. The partnership not only aims to enhance fan engagement but also provide new revenue streams for brands, enabling fans to purchase merchandise, gear, and even tailgating supplies featured during the broadcasts.

Following its debut with ACC football, The CW plans to extend this shopping integration to other sporting events, as well as scripted and unscripted programming across the network. This announcement comes as part of The CW's broader sports strategy, which includes its coverage of Pac-12 football, NASCAR Xfinity Series racing, ACC basketball, WWE NXT, and the studio show Inside the NFL.

As this technological integration takes hold, it signals a shift in how audiences interact with televised content, potentially setting a new standard for live sports and television broadcast experiences. The integration of shoppable TV into sports broadcasts could revolutionise viewer engagement, creating a more interactive atmosphere for sports enthusiasts.
