Audacy and Super Hi-Fi Launch First AI-Driven FM Radio Station in Denver
In a pioneering move in the radio broadcasting industry, Audacy has collaborated with Super Hi-Fi to launch their first FM station that is entirely powered by artificial intelligence. This groundbreaking project is set to fully automate and schedule the Denver radio station, Front Range Country 103.1, starting from 31st October.
Front Range Country 103.1, which made its debut in March 2023, will now operate using Super Hi-Fi's comprehensive suite of AI technologies. These technologies will handle various aspects such as scheduling, production, voice track mastering, and audio preparation, marking a significant shift from traditional radio broadcast operations.
The strategic integration of AI in radio broadcasting is aimed at enhancing the quality and efficiency of program delivery. Audacy's team will utilise Super Hi-Fi's cloud-based Program Director platform to manage a wide range of functions which include music curation, content management, advertising, scheduling, voice tracking, and the overall station playout system. This cloud-based platform provides the flexibility of being accessible from any laptop, thereby streamlining the operational processes.
A notable aspect of this development is the potential reduction in costs and operational complexities associated with traditional broadcast management. The AI-driven system offers a modern, cloud-first approach, which includes the deployment of a fully transmitter-based playout system. This will be supported by the Orban 5950 Super Hi-Fi Edition, further simplifying station management and reducing operating expenses.
Jeff Sottolano, Audacy’s Chief Programming Officer, expressed his enthusiasm about expanding their partnership with Super Hi-Fi, emphasising the potential for optimising programming and production to enhance service delivery to listeners and partners. “As we continue to invest in technology that enhances our content and portfolio, we’re excited to expand our partnership with Super Hi-Fi and integrate their capabilities at Front Range Country 103.1,” Sottolano stated.
Zack Zalon, CEO of Super Hi-Fi, highlighted the innovative aspect of this initiative, stating, “This is an exciting milestone. Through this partnership, we’re driving innovation across the industry, maintaining radio’s legacy as a premier listening experience but with greater simplicity and efficiency.”
This development marks a significant advancement in the radio broadcasting sector, showcasing how cutting-edge AI technologies can transform and modernise traditional media outlets. The collaboration between Audacy and Super Hi-Fi presents a forward-thinking approach that may well set a precedent for future innovations in the industry.
