Natural Language Processing (NLP) has emerged as a significant area within artificial intelligence (AI), dramatically changing interactions between humans and machines across various industries. NLP’s underlying mechanics include Natural Language Understanding (NLU) and Natural Language Generation (NLG). Dan Balaceanu, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at DRUID AI, defines NLU as the process that determines meaning and intent from user inputs, while NLG creates context-based responses. For example, recognition of user intent such as booking a flight can lead to relevant, contextual responses from AI systems.
