Albrecht distinctively noted the anomaly during the call, stating to NBC 6 South Florida, “After the second pause I realized, this is 100% a video, playing on a loop. It is not real.”
The unsettling twist in this tale is that the falsely presented identity belonged to Margit Prichard, a Californian woman who has been missing since 2018. Quincy Cromer, a captain with the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, revealed the extent of the efforts made to locate Prichard, recalling, “We had hundreds of searchers that dedicated thousands of hours searching for Margit.” Following the incident, the sheriff’s office reached out to Prichard's family, who responded with shock and dismay at the misappropriation of their loved one’s likeness.
