THE WOODLANDS, TX – Tomball Independent School District (ISD) has announced a groundbreaking initiative by partnering with PowerSchool (NYSE: PWSC), a premier provider of cloud-based educational software in North America. This partnership will facilitate the piloting of PowerBuddy, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered assistant designed to benefit students, families, teachers, and administrators.
This innovative partnership aims to leverage AI to enhance educational strategies and operational efficiencies within the district. Tomball ISD, recognised as the top district in Harris County by Niche.com for five consecutive years, is set to become the first district in Texas to implement PowerBuddy.
The Integration of PowerBuddy
PowerBuddy encompasses two distinct tools: PowerBuddy for Learning and PowerBuddy for Custom AI. Both tools aim to strengthen Tomball ISD's educational framework through AI's responsible and efficient capabilities.
PowerBuddy for Learning is integrated within PowerSchool Schoology Learning and serves as a personal assistant designed to aid both teaching and learning processes. It assists teachers by creating high-quality, context-specific assignments and instructional content, thus enhancing time efficiency and productivity. The tool allows educators to streamline the content creation process, generate supplementary materials, and effectively adapt existing content for various classes or levels.

A critical feature of PowerBuddy is its ability to operate within Tomball ISD's existing data ecosystem in Schoology Learning. PowerBuddy for Custom AI allows users to ask specific questions and receive district-approved responses. This function aids users in efficiently accessing specific district-related information, ranging from athletic schedules and after-school programs to policy manuals and job postings.
Complementary Tools
In addition to PowerBuddy, Tomball ISD utilises several other PowerSchool products, including Applicant Tracking, Employee Records, eSchoolPlus Student Information System (SIS), eFinancePlus, and Predictive Enrollment Analytics. TRAINS Event
To further champion the integration of AI in education, Tomball ISD and PowerSchool will jointly host an event named TRAINS (Tomball's Roundtable for Artificial Intelligence and Networking Symposium). Scheduled for December 3, 2024, at the Tomball Event Center, the symposium will run from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
