Logpoint Acquires Muninn to Bolster Cybersecurity Capabilities with AI-Driven Network Detection & Response

Copenhagen & London, October 1, 2024 – Logpoint, a leading European provider of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, today announced the acquisition of Danish cybersecurity company Muninn, known for its advanced AI-driven Network Detection & Response (NDR) technologies. This strategic acquisition aims to enhance Logpoint’s cyber defence offerings amidst a growing demand for sophisticated tools to counter escalating cyber threats.

The integration of Muninn’s AI-driven NDR capabilities with Logpoint’s existing SIEM-based Cyber Defense Platform is expected to substantially improve organisations' and Managed Security Service Providers' (MSSPs) ability to detect, investigate, and respond to cyber threats. The acquisition is poised to fortify Logpoint’s position in the European cybersecurity market, delivering comprehensive security solutions to combat increasingly complex cyber threats.

Addressing the increasing threat landscape, Logpoint’s CEO Mikkel Drucker expressed the significance of this merger: “Geopolitical unrest, a shortage of cybersecurity talent, and the commoditisation of malware have made cybersecurity increasingly complex. Organisations and MSSPs require a multi-layered approach to detect and respond effectively to threats. Muninn’s inclusion enhances our offerings, drastically improving our customers' chances of preventing cyberattacks through the combined strengths of AI-driven NDR, SIEM, and automation technologies.”

The new combined solution aims to significantly boost visibility and efficacy in Threat Detection, Investigation, and Response (TDIR), enhancing real-time prevention of cyberattacks. According to Gartner, organisations that combine SIEM, NDR, and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) can respond to incidents 50 percent faster. Muninn’s NDR solution is set to augment the Logpoint Cyber Defense Platform, providing comprehensive network visibility and facilitating seamless integration with other cybersecurity products for holistic protection across diverse environments.

Jacob Frandsen, Partner at Summa Equity, which holds a majority stake in Logpoint, highlighted the broader vision underpinning the acquisition: “We invested in Logpoint to secure the digital society and support UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly building resilient infrastructures and promoting transparent institutions with accessible public information. Muninn shares these goals, making this a significant step towards enhancing cyber resilience across Europe.”

To spearhead this technological advancement, Logpoint has established a dedicated Labs team led by CTO Christian Have. This initiative is tasked with advancing security research and AI innovation to aid organisations and MSSPs in navigating the complexities of cyber threats. The integration brings aboard Muninn’s talented team, including CEO and Founder Andreas Wehowsky, who brings over 20 years of experience in AI, Machine Learning (ML), and enterprise IT projects.

Wehowsky expressed his enthusiasm for the merger: “Joining Logpoint enables us to bolster mid-sized organisations' resilience against cyber threats. With many companies struggling due to limited cybersecurity staff, this partnership enhances our ability to support these organisations in safeguarding their digital assets, allowing them to focus on their core operations.”

As the largest SIEM vendor in Europe, Logpoint’s suite of services extends beyond SIEM to include automation, case management, and behaviour analytics. These capabilities aid organisations and MSSPs in detecting, investigating, and responding to cyber threats while ensuring compliance with regulations such as NIS 2, GDPR, and other data protection standards. Logpoint’s solutions, built in accordance with European laws, exemplify robust data protection practices, further evidenced by its Common Criteria EAL3+ certification, a requirement for NATO organisations.
