AI and data venture capital fund, Iona Star LP, has announced a successful initial closing of £22 million for its new fund. This notable first close sees support from significant backers, including a £10 million investment each from the Castelnau Group and retailer Frasers Group. The fund, which has set its sights on a total of £40 million by the fourth quarter of the year, is poised to inject capital into transformative companies that straddle the realms of artificial intelligence, data, and technology.

Based in London and Belfast, Iona Star LP is helmed by a distinguished group of leaders consisting of Gerry Buggy, Mike Powell, Graham Ferguson, and Kevin McGivern. This quartet brings extensive experience from their roles as founders, senior executives, and C-suite leaders, offering substantial business acumen to drive the potential of their investment portfolio. Their previous ventures include the successful exits of Quantile to the London Stock Exchange Group and RxDataScience to Syneos Health in the United States.

The new fund aims to globally deploy investments ranging between £1 million to £3 million.
