Samsung Electronics, a global leader in semiconductor technology, has announced that its latest PM9E1 NVMe Gen 5 Solid State Drive (SSD) has entered mass production. Although the initial press release was briefly retracted after publication, comprehensive details were subsequently confirmed, highlighting significant advancements over its predecessor, the PM9A1 SSD.

The PM9E1 SSD stands out with its remarkable increases in speed, capacity, and power efficiency, tailoring itself to meet the demands of enterprise clientele and specific markets requiring enhanced storage solutions for data-intensive processes, particularly those in AI-driven environments.

Performance and Capacity Enhancements

The PM9E1 touts substantial performance upgrades, boasting impressive read speeds of 14.5GB/s and write speeds of 13GB/s. These figures effectively double the capabilities observed in the PM9A1, which recorded 7GB/s in read speeds and 5.2GB/s in write speeds. This improvement is credited to Samsung's advancement in technology, including the incorporation of an in-house 5nm controller and its eighth-generation V-NAND (V8) technology.
