Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican congresswoman from Georgia, has been actively reallocating her investment portfolio, according to a recent financial disclosure. The report, submitted earlier this week, outlines Greene’s acquisition of shares in several prominent technology companies and her purchase of U.S. Treasury bills.
On 4th October, Greene added shares of significant semiconductor equipment manufacturers to her portfolio. These companies include the Dutch firm ASML Holding NV, along with U.S.-based Lam Research Corporation and Applied Materials, Inc. Each investment is reportedly valued between $1,001 and $15,000. This move aligns with a burgeoning interest in AI chip stocks, which have seen notable performance this year. While companies like Nvidia Corp. have experienced a staggering 168% increase year-to-date, others such as Applied Materials, Lam Research, and ASML have seen more modest gains.
In addition to these tech stocks, Greene has purchased shares in the banking giant JPMorgan Chase & Co. This acquisition is particularly significant as the bank prepares to release its third-quarter earnings report. Analysts are predicting earnings per share of $4.01, a slight decrease from the previous year’s $4.33. However, revenue is anticipated to grow by 5% to $41.65 billion.
Furthermore, Greene expanded her portfolio with investments in a variety of other major companies. These include Costco Wholesale Corporation, Dell Technologies Inc., FedEx Corp., Meta Platforms, Inc., and Visa, Inc. Each of these purchases ranges between $1,001 and $15,000. Beyond equities, Greene also increased her holdings in U.S. Treasury bills, with investments valued between $50,001 and $100,000.
These disclosures are mandated under the "Stock Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act," which requires U.S. lawmakers to file reports of financial transactions within 45 days. The act aims to maintain transparency and accountability by ensuring that members of Congress disclose their stock trades promptly.
Currently, the broader market has been experiencing highs, with the S&P 500 Index reaching record levels. The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, which tracks the S&P 500, saw a rise of 0.69%, reaching $577.14. Greene's trades thus hold particular significance amid a robust market environment.
While Greene's stock trading is not as extensive as some of her congressional peers, her financial maneuvers reflect careful consideration of current market trends and the broader economic climate. These actions provide insights into the strategies being employed by members of Congress as they manage their personal investments against a backdrop of evolving market dynamics.
