Gluware Enhances Developer Experience with Advanced Integrations

Gluware, a leading player in network automation, is making strides in the developer community by introducing a suite of advanced integrations aimed at simplifying and enhancing infrastructure management. The company, which is known for providing automated network solutions, has launched significant updates that include GitHub integration to support GitOps and a new integration with the open-source network documentation tool, NetBox.

In a recent announcement, Gluware detailed its innovative developer-focused AI copilot that aids in generating code and configuring JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) structures efficiently. This tool is particularly advantageous for developers as it facilitates the construction and integration of tasks within the Gluware platform through a JSON-based wrapper termed “J types and jnibs.” This approach allows developers to utilise standard JSON interfaces rather than relying solely on Gluware’s graphical user interface, providing greater flexibility and integration capabilities within their work environments.

The addition of GitHub integration marks Gluware's strategic move into the realm of GitOps, where the infrastructure as code (IaC) approach is leveraged. Infrastructure as Code is an emerging trend that allows for configuration data to be stored centrally in a Git repository. This model supports automated and version-controlled management of infrastructure, providing organisations with enhanced consistency and compliance in handling infrastructure-related code. By integrating with GitHub, Gluware enables its users to maintain their Gluware configurations alongside other infrastructure code, thereby simplifying management processes and aligning with modern DevOps practices.

Andy Lefner, a representative from Gluware, emphasized the strategic importance of this integration. "The goal is to enable organizations to centrally store and manage their code, particularly from a compliance viewpoint," Lefner shared. "While our platform already supports infrastructure-as-data capabilities, introducing GitHub integration brings us fully into the infrastructure-as-code pipeline, aligning with current industry standards."

Complementing the GitHub integration is the new liaison with NetBox, a tool widely appreciated for its robust network documentation and modelling capabilities. This integration is crucial as it addresses the needs of Gluware customers who already utilise NetBox for defining network configurations. NetBox acts as a “source of truth” for network attributes that Gluware does not inherently store, thus offering users the ability to draw upon these attributes to inform and execute automation decisions within the Gluware system.

This strategic enhancement of developer tools and integration options demonstrates Gluware’s commitment to expanding its platform's capabilities, ensuring users have access to versatile, efficient, and compliant infrastructure management solutions. As network automation continues to evolve, features such as these are likely to play a key role in shaping how organisations approach the complex landscape of digital infrastructure and operations.
