Artificial intelligence (AI) could potentially surpass the intelligence of the majority of Nobel Prize winners before the end of this decade, according to Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic. In a conversation with Bloomberg, Amodei predicted that 2026 might be the earliest point at which "powerful AI" could be realised, though he admitted this is not the most likely timeline. By "powerful AI," Amodei referred to a level of AI capability often associated with "artificial general intelligence" (AGI), which aims to replicate human-like reasoning and adaptive learning capabilities.
Throughout various industry discussions, AGI is anticipated to be a dramatic milestone in the AI field.
