Cohesity Unveils Advanced Visual Data Explorer for Gaia Platform

Cohesity, a leading data management company, has announced the introduction of its patent-pending visual data exploration capability for the Cohesity Gaia platform. This innovative addition seeks to transform the way enterprises manage and derive insights from large volumes of unstructured data.

Innovative Visual Data Exploration

Launched earlier this year, Cohesity Gaia is an AI-powered search assistant that uses generative AI to offer deeper insights from diverse data formats. The newly integrated visual data explorer is designed to display themes across datasets, helping users quickly identify patterns and queries within unstructured data — such as documents, emails, PDFs, spreadsheets, and more.

Unstructured data, which accounts for over 80% of corporate information, presents significant challenges for businesses trying to extract meaningful insights. Traditional methods often rely on sampling smaller portions of structured data, potentially leading to incomplete or incorrect analysis. Gaia's new capability aims to address this gap by leveraging cutting-edge AI techniques, including topic modelling and natural language processing, to bring clarity and context to complex data.

Streamlining Data Insights

The visual data explorer within Gaia offers a pioneering approach by categorising data into themes which users can explore visually. This feature allows business users to interact directly with their data, utilising intelligent prompts and conversational queries to refine their search. By facilitating a clearer understanding of dataset content, this capability empowers enterprises to ask more targeted questions and retrieve valuable insights swiftly.

Central to Gaia’s functionality is its commitment to security and compliance. The tool ensures that while providing detailed insights, it maintains regulatory standards and secure data management practices.

Compatibility Expansion and AI Integration

Cohesity has expanded Gaia's support to include compatibility with various new data sources and workloads. This encompasses data secured on platforms like Microsoft 365 Mail, Sharepoint, OneDrive, as well as on-premises and cloud-based file servers such as Dell EMC Isilon and Netapp NAS. This broader support means more enterprises can leverage their existing data reserves, irrespective of storage location or format.

The platform utilises retrieval augmented generation (RAG) AI and large language models (LLMs) to streamline access to vast data reserves. Craig Martell, CTO of Cohesity, emphasised the company's goal of enabling businesses to unlock significant value from their data, regardless of complexity and origin.

Recognition in Artificial Intelligence

Cohesity Gaia has garnered recognition within the tech industry, notably being named a 2024 Tech Innovator in the artificial intelligence category by CRN. This accolade highlights the platform's technological contributions and its potential to drive partner growth opportunities.

The visual data explorer and new data compatibility features are scheduled for release in October. This update is set to enhance Cohesity Gaia’s utility, offering businesses an unprecedented tool for managing and exploring vast datasets. As companies strive to leverage AI for business intelligence, Gaia positions itself as a key facilitator for improved operational efficiency and decision-making.
