Universal Music Group’s collaboration with AI music startup SoundLabs has facilitated this innovation. The partnership was publicised in the summer and includes provisions for artists to create voice clones, with language transcription cited as a prominent benefit to enable artists to connect with non-native-speaking fans more effectively.
Brian "BT" Transeau, the founder of SoundLabs and an experienced composer, described the integration of machine learning into the music-making process as an avenue to enhance the emotional experience for listeners. "Music is this universal conduit of a language," Transeau stated, emphasising the potential for fans to experience the warmth of an artist’s voice, even when translated into their native languages.
