Granite 3.0 encompasses 11 distinct models that are now accessible via HuggingFace under an Apache 2.0 licence. These models are integrated into IBM's watsonx platform and are the default models for the firm's Consulting Advantage AI-powered delivery platform. With parameter versions starting at just one billion, each model is offered in both Base and Instruct variants. The Base variant allows developers to tailor the model with their own fine-tuning, while the Instruct variant is pre-tuned on a vast array of IBM-curated instructions, designed to enhance general reasoning, math, and task-based skills.

Two notable members of the Granite 3.0 family, Granite Guardian 3.0 2B and 8B, are specifically tailored to provide developers with the means to monitor and apply passive guidance on issues such as bias, fairness, and hateful language. Additionally, these models aid in ensuring contextual and answer relevance, thereby addressing key enterprise AI challenges.

IBM differentiates its models by training them to adapt easily to enterprise-specific data, reducing the cost barriers associated with such processes.
