On 4 November 2024, Singapore witnessed a significant development in the digital business and IT services sector as NTT DATA and Google Cloud announced an enhancement of their strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to expedite the adoption of cloud-based data analytics and generative AI solutions across significant markets in the Asia Pacific region.

NTT DATA, renowned for its technology and industry expertise, along with its extensive enterprise clientele, will merge capabilities with Google Cloud's data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud services prowess. The alliance is poised to foster innovation, boost operational efficiency, and drive businesses forward. NTT DATA and Google Cloud's joint effort will centre around cloud-based data and AI solutions specifically customised for diverse industry requirements. Utilising NTT DATA's established industry blueprints and cloud solutions on the Google Cloud platform, the partnership is set to provide tailored solutions across various sectors including healthcare, life sciences, financial services, insurance, manufacturing, retail, and public sectors.

A hallmark of this partnership is the establishment of a dedicated NTT DATA Google Cloud Business Unit. This unit will develop enhanced solutions focused on data analytics and generative AI, besides offering improved support for applications, modern infrastructure, cybersecurity, and SAP on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In an effort to ensure effective solution implementation, NTT DATA plans to enhance its proficiency in Google Cloud technologies by implementing training and certification programs. Currently housing 2,600 Google-certified engineers, NTT DATA aims to extend certification to an additional 1,000 professionals within the Asia Pacific region.

Gartner, Inc. projects global end-user spending on public cloud services to reach $679 billion in 2024, surging past $1 trillion by 2027. Increasing deployments of generative AI necessitate a scalable modern cloud infrastructure, highlighting the relevance of this strategic collaboration.

John Lombard, CEO of NTT DATA, APAC, emphasised the potential growth, describing the partnership with Google Cloud as a transformative initiative that aligns with their growth strategy, predicting a ten-fold increase in their cloud business within the next three years. Similarly, Karan Bajwa, Vice President of Google Cloud, APAC, underscored the partnership not just as a technological alliance but as a relationship built on trust to deliver exceptional digital transformation outcomes.
