Disney has announced the establishment of a new division focused on technological innovation, named the Office of Technological Enablement (OTE). This initiative, revealed through a company memo, underlines Disney's commitment to both exploring the potential and addressing the challenges posed by emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Mixed Reality (XR).
The new office will be spearheaded by Disney's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Jamie Voris, who will lead the charge in positioning Disney as a forward-thinking leader in these pivotal technological fields. Voris will report directly to Alan Bergman, who co-chairs Disney Entertainment. The OTE is projected to expand to encompass around 100 employees, demonstrating Disney's significant investment in this area.
Eddie Drake is set to fill the role of CTO for Walt Disney Studios following Voris' transition to his new responsibilities. This strategic restructuring indicates Disney’s ongoing dedication to enhancing its technological capabilities and adapting to the rapidly advancing tech landscape.
