The conference was designed to provide an insightful exploration into the fusion of faith and technology, offering a platform for discussions, workshops, and lectures. A central theme of the event was the application of AI in religious contexts, which was both a nod towards modernisation and an acknowledgment of ethical considerations surrounding this technology. A notable innovation introduced was "Esperanza", the Church's pioneering AI-driven virtual Bible teacher. Developed to operate through WhatsApp, Esperanza can engage users with real-time answers and personalised Bible studies, showcasing a blend of accessibility and tailored religious instruction.
Jorge Rampogna, the director of the Communication Department of the South American Division (SAD), played a fundamental role in clarifying the church's intentions regarding technological integration. He stressed that while technology, including AI, possesses significant potential, it should complement rather than substitute the human connection central to their mission. "Technology is powerful, but it cannot replace the human touch. We must use AI to better serve people, not to dehumanise our mission," Rampogna articulated, highlighting a balanced approach to technological adoption.
Throughout the event, communication leaders were encouraged to embrace new technological tools to enhance their evangelical outreach. The aim was not merely to integrate advanced methods but to empower the church's mission to reach broader audiences more effectively. Many attendees shared their experiences and insights, underscoring how technology has enabled them to connect with more people, thereby amplifying their impact.
